Borosilicate Glass Tubing 3.3

APPLICATION: 

Borosilicate tube 3.3 is required wherever visual inspection of processes in vessels under pressure, thermal and chemical stress must be ensured. The high level of safety is achieved by a special borosilicate glass with good chemical resistance, extraordinary purity and homogeneity. The low thermal expansion typical of this borosilicate glass leads to a particularly high thermal shock resistance.

OPERATING CONDITIONS: 

The characteristic values of the glasses and the narrow dimensional tolerances are guaranteed by production and quality tests during the process. Tensile, compressive and torsional forces must be avoided under all circumstances.

FRACTURE BEHAVIOR: 

The picture on the right shows the fracture behaviour of borosilicate tube 3.3. Usually the tube will tear to length. Damage to glass is mainly caused by external influences. If the installation is not properly tension-, pressureand torsion-free, stresses occur within the glass cylinder which can lead to cracks.
